Community input is essential to the success of the upcoming construction and renovation projects in the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) and the district is inviting local residents, school staff and families to provide their feedback. The community input sessions will focus on the initial concepts for Sherman Middle School, Shabazz High School, Black Hawk Middle School and Gompers Elementary School and your participation will help shape the future of these schools.
The first round of community engagement will take place on March 11 and 12. These sessions offer a valuable opportunity for the community to be involved in the process of refining these projects. During the events, there will be presentations on the conceptual plans followed by time for questions and feedback. This is an important step in ensuring that the concepts align with the needs of students, staff and the broader community.
The March 11 session will focus on Sherman Middle School and Shabazz High School while the March 12 session will center on Black Hawk Middle School and Gompers Elementary School. Both sessions will be held from 5 -6 p.m. and will include light refreshments. Childcare will be available and Spanish, Hmong and ASL interpretation will be provided onsite to ensure accessibility for all.
These sessions are part of MMSD's broader effort to engage various stakeholders, including internal teams, students and local residents, in the planning of the district’s facilities. Your input will help guide the development of spaces that foster academic success and serve the entire community.
