A message from Superintendent Carlton D. Jenkins, Ph.D.
Dear Board Members,
Today marks one week before the start of what promises to be a new and exciting school year, full of breakthrough moments for our students, families, staff, and community. As our staff return to their buildings this week, our district is being energized by their positive vibes in anticipation of a new chapter of engaging our dynamic scholars. In addition, we have seen evidence of student and family excitement about the upcoming year as we have traveled throughout our community and attended various events. Truly, Madison is a community which is serious about, and supportive of, the promise of public education.
As we prepare to greet our students and families next week, we should all reflect on our opportunity to impact our youngest generation. The mentoring, instruction, encouragement, and support we provide all of our scholars will help shape the future trajectory of our community, state, nation, and world. Wow – what an awesome privilege and collective responsibility! May our intentions, words, and actions serve to inspire them to reach the great heights of their infinite potential. Moreover, may our examples of respectful, collaborative, equitable, and co-creative work which strives for human decency leave the imprint of our district’s mission, vision, and core values on their lives.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. I look forward to providing you with further updates on our district’s progress next week.
Carlton D. Jenkins, Ph.D.
