Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us.

MMSD Celebrates Banned Books Week

Schools across MMSD are celebrating Banned Books Week Sept. 18-24 to highlight the value of free and open access to information. With nationwide attempts to restrict access to books, the American Library Association’s annual Banned Books Week draws attention to the harms of censorship. The theme of this year’s event is “Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us.” Each spring, the Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF) compiles a list of the Top 10 Most Challenged Books to inform the public about censorship in libraries and schools.
