Learn more about Dr. Gothard in this new video. An MMSD alum, Dr. Gothard grew up on Madison’s east side and launched his education career as a high school biology teacher at La Follette. He has also served as an educational assistant, a football coach, a principal, dean of students and as assistant superintendent for secondary schools in MMSD. These experiences gave him a unique opportunity to view education from different perspectives and contributed to the leader he is today.
Dr. Joe Gothard officially introduced his entry framework, “People. Purpose. Pride.” This framework provides insight into Dr. Gothard’s priorities and plans, which are key to shaping his future work at the Madison Metropolitan School District, and invites the community to engage with him on his work.
Make sure your student is up to date with all necessary vaccines and a well-child check. There have been changes to the Wisconsin Student Immunization Law, beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.
Starting Thursday, Aug. 1, students enrolled at any of MMSD’s four high schools are encouraged to register to participate in co-curricular athletics programs.
