The second-semester application window for the tuition-free program, which is open to students in grades 6-12, closes today. Classes begin on Jan. 28, 2025.

The academies afford eligible participants the opportunity to earn college credits at the high school level. Applications will be accepted until Jan. 24, 2025.

MMSD's attendance rates improved from 86.3% to 88.1% by addressing barriers and creating a universal attendance process. At Huegel Elementary, actions like adding bus stops and engaging families boosted attendance, particularly among Black students.

MMSD saw a 9% increase in literacy proficiency, with nearly 50% of students meeting grade-level expectations on the 2023 Wisconsin Forward Exam. This improvement follows the district's adoption of a phonics-based "science of reading" approach and targeted curriculum changes.
