Southside Elementary School Is Starting to Take Shape
Since last month, there has been significant progress on the construction site. Structural steel work on the south end of the building is complete. Crews poured the second and third floor elevated concrete decks. Masonry work on the stairwells is complete and is moving along on the gym walls. In addition, the mechanical and electrical trade workers have started working under the concrete decks.

Beginning work on the south side of the building enclosure and progressing around the building

Starting structural steel work on the north section of the building

Installing the vapor barrier once the building enclosure is complete

Beginning roofing in just over a month
Ironworkers set the large steel beams in place for the future commons area

Once the 2020 Facilities Referendum construction is complete, the new Southside Elementary School will have an additional 70,000 square feet of space, which will include classrooms, administration space, a gym, and commons.
