Did You Know? Placing geofoam beneath fresh concrete can reduce the stress on the existing concrete slab below it. Geofoam is much lighter but still provides adequate density to support the weight of the new concrete. It is also often used in construction as a creative way to reduce the amount of concrete that needs to be poured and is easily cut and shaped to fit the space as needed.
The renovated family and consumer science classroom received new casework and range hoods.
In the forum area, the geofoam and rebar are in place on the ramp, and concrete will be poured this week.
Crews are working on the flooring and installing new MEPF fixtures and ceiling tile in the forum space.
The acoustic panels in the forum space have been revamped with fresh paint to correlate with the new color scheme throughout the school.
The drywall in the Grab & Go area has been taped and sanded, the sliding grill doors have been installed, and painting and new casework will soon follow.
Workers will soon begin demo in the third-floor classrooms, which will be upgraded with new lab casework, MEPF infrastructure, fixtures, ceilings, and other finishes.
