With the current phases of construction almost complete, crews are working hard to wrap up renovations in the classroom areas on the ground floor and first floor this week.
The first-floor renovations are nearly complete in the new library, classrooms, and office spaces. Additional classrooms, bathrooms, and the new art gallery on the ground floor will also be completed soon.
Over winter break, work in the new forum, School Store, and Grab & Go space will be completed.
Updates on current work
- Putting the finishing touches on the first-floor renovation areas
- Installing casework, flooring, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) finishes in the classrooms on the ground floor
- Pouring concrete for the new ramp, hanging the ceiling grid, and installing flooring in the forum
- Gearing up for the next phase of classroom renovations on the third floor and the first phase of renovation work in the auto shop
DID YOU KNOW? Since the project started, crews have installed over 164,000 square feet of new ceiling at East High School. To put that into context, the new turf practice field that will be installed in the Summer of 2024 is 38,400 square feet. That means the amount of new ceiling that has been installed so far is equivalent to about four of the turf practice fields!
The ceiling grid in the renovated forum space has been installed, and painting, soffits, and carpet are next.
The new library space received updated interior finishes and MEPF infrastructure, while maintaining the existing windows to retain the historic aesthetic.
In the renovated family and consumer science classroom, new kitchen hoods are being installed and casework will soon follow.
The old “LMC Purple” space on the first floor is now separated into two new flex classrooms.
New light fixtures have been installed in the art gallery.
