Starting the final phase of construction

Starting the final phase of construction

The mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) work is nearly complete at East High School. Next, the focus will shift to the final phase of the construction project, which includes painting, installing ceilings, lighting, and other finishes.

Now that students are on summer vacation, construction work is in full swing throughout the building. Crews recently completed the practice field and the concrete floor for the woodshop mezzanine. Work on the woodshop mezzanine was challenging because ironworkers had to fabricate a steel deck strong enough to support the concrete floor, and then crews had to pour the concrete on an elevated surface.

Updates on current and upcoming work

  • Installing the ceilings on the first and second floors
  • Starting landscaping around the building and in the courtyard
  • Installing new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units to help regulate the temperature throughout the building

Did You Know? The new artificial turf on the athletic practice field at East High School is made up of approximately 640 million synthetic strands of rubber.
