While students and staff at East High School approach the end of the 2022-2023 academic year, the construction team is gearing up for a busy summer at East!
Currently, construction crews continue to work on the renovations to the pool locker room and 2nd floor classroom phases.
Coming up this summer, the construction team will be renovating the cafeteria, welcome center, and music area, along with connecting the cafeteria and music addition to these renovated areas.
Updates on current work
- Interior finishes such as paint, ceramic tile and ceiling grid are being installed in the pool locker rooms.
- Interior wall framing, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire (MEPF) work is ongoing in the 2nd floor classrooms renovation phase.
- Masonry brick & cast stone veneer is being installed on the exterior of the cafeteria addition.
- Overhead MEPF work and soffit framing is ongoing inside the cafeteria addition.
DID YOU KNOW? The 550 ton crane used to hoist the temporary air conditioning unit that will serve the Auditorium at East this summer needed an additional 251,300lbs. of counterweight just to be able to lift the 3,150lbs. temporary cooling unit 30 feet into the air.
A 500 ton crane was used to hoist a temporary cooling unit into place that will serve the auditorium this summer until the final cooling systems are installed.
50,000 lbs. of counterweight was required to be put on the back of the crane to enable it to pick the load without it tipping over.
A concrete pump truck was used to deliver concrete into the 2nd floor classroom renovation area for a floor pour.
The concrete pump truck is controlled by an operator via remote control.
Cast stone and masonry brick veneer is being installed on the new cafeteria expansion.
