Construction crews are working hard to put the finishing touches on the third-floor, east-wing renovations. Casework, carpet, ceilings, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) fixtures have been installed. The flooring, bathroom fixtures, door hardware, and paint touchups are going in this week.
Construction continues in the autos, metals, and welding spaces as new masonry walls and MEPF work is ongoing.
Once the third-floor renovation work is complete, crews will move down to the second-floor portion of the east wing, where demolition is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.
Updates on current and upcoming work:
- Finishing masonry walls and MEPF work in the auto shop
- Installing finishes in the auto shop, including paint, ceiling grid, and MEPF fixtures
- Wrapping up renovation work on the east wing of the third floor and second floor
DID YOU KNOW? The current phase of construction in the auto shop includes approximately 850 linear feet of new masonry walls, commonly referred to as concrete masonry units or CMU. These walls are durable, moisture resistant, and act as sound-proofing material.
In the third-floor classrooms, new carpet and ceilings were installed, and markerboards will be installed this week.
Flooring is being installed in the third-floor science classrooms.
The welding booths in the metals shop will be painted this week.
Tile was installed in the third-floor bathrooms, and painting and plumbing fixtures will be installed next.
Crews continue installing the new masonry walls and MEPF infrastructure in the auto shop area.
