With school still out, construction crews have been working around the clock to keep up with all the work to be completed this summer. Summer is always one of the busiest times in construction and this project is no different.
The demolition and masonry crews are working hard to get the new commons and student services area opened. The mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing workers are putting in services to ensure a safe and accessible learning environment. The finishing subcontractors are hard at work giving the school a facelift with new flooring, paint, and accessories throughout the building.
Updates on current and upcoming work
- Wrapping up the final stages of work in the new fieldhouse and practice gym, which will be completed by the start of school
- Installing the ceiling tile in the new gym locker rooms and corridors
- Continuing drywall and taping in the new front entrance and staff office additions
- Ongoing demolition in the old spectator gym and performing arts center
DID YOU KNOW? The maple hardwood flooring in the gym was original to the building in 1962. As part of the renovations at La Follette High School, the gym flooring is being recycled and repurposed to build a display case and retain some character and charm of the original building.
The final coat of paint has been applied to the new fieldhouse gym
