The end is in sight for construction work at Vel Phillips Memorial High School. The pool, pool locker rooms, weight room, and athletic trainers’ space are nearly complete. The final phases of the project include wrapping up work in the main entrance, administrative space, and the library media center (LMC).
The main entrance includes the new welcome center, administration offices, student services, and several specialized classrooms. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) contractors are finishing the above-ceiling work, and the flooring and ceilings will be installed next.
The LMC is shaping into a beautifully refreshed and renovated space. The large open-concept library or one of the multiple small group instruction (SGI) rooms will be great spaces for students to use for reading or studying.
Upcoming construction activity
- Completing pool inspections
- Installing casework and flooring in the LMC
- Installing the ceiling grid and flooring in the main entrance
- Putting up interior signage
- Doing site work, including landscaping and paving
- Moving in furniture
