Renovations Are Taking Shape

Construction renovations at West High School are starting to take shape! Inside the building for this phase of construction, demolition work is complete, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) work is wrapping up soon. Crews are working on building, patching, and painting walls throughout the renovated spaces.

Next week, workers will begin working on interior finishes, including installing lab casework, flooring, drywall, painting, ceramic tiling, and much more!

Making progress on the additions

Construction crews have been putting in many hours working on the new pool and gym additions. Since last month, over 20,000 square feet of concrete slab was poured. Next, workers will begin building the concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls. In addition, thousands of pounds of structural steel are being installed, which will support the second floor of the addition. This rapid progress requires massive coordination between all the trades on this project, especially the steel, masonry, and concrete contractors.

On the horizon are the precast concrete slabs, which are scheduled to arrive in late October. These slabs will support the floor of the new gym and the pool balcony.
