WIDA Screener Family Information

On this page you will find current information regarding the WIDA Screener and the WIDA Remote Screener.

A Brief Description of WIDA Screener:

The WIDA Screener is an English Language proficiency assessment given to incoming students in Grades K–12 to assist educators with the identification of students as English Language learners (ELs). The purpose of this assessment is to help educators make decisions about whether a student is a candidate for English language support services.

What Families can Expect with Remote Screening:

If the Home Language Survey indicates the need for additional screening, students will receive material in the mail for use on the WIDA Remote Screener. A time for each student and a teacher to give the Screener will be arranged. Students should not review the material prior to phone call or video chat with the teacher.

What Families will get in the mail before Screening:

Each student will receive a grade specific set of materials, as well as the cover letter for families. Here is the cover letter:
