ANet Interim Assessment for Middle School Families

The school board or operator of the independent charter school is responsible for ensuring fundamental skills screening and universal reading screening are administered in accordance with Wis. Stat. §§ 118.016. To accomplish this, each LEA will establish and implement a screening window for administering the fundamental and universal reading screeners.

Based on grade level, students will see screeners that check for skill levels in all the specific literacy subskills enumerated in Wis. Stat. §§ 118.016:

• phonemic awareness,
• decoding skills,
• alphabet knowledge,
• letter sound knowledge,
• oral vocabulary,
• rapid naming,
• phonological awareness,
• word recognition,
• spelling,
• vocabulary,
• listening comprehension,
• oral reading fluency,
• and reading comprehension

The AimswebPlus screeners take, generally, a short amount of time. 

Students take many of the screeners in a 1:1 setting.  These take anywhere from 1 - 5 minutes each.

Older students (grades 2 and 3) take an online screener which takes about 15 minutes to complete.  These can be taken in a group setting.

MMSD's Fall window:

Grades 4K - 3,  September 9 - 27, 2024

MMSD's Winter window:

Grades K - 3*, December 3, 2024 - January 31, 2025

MMSD's Spring window:

Grades 4K - 3, March 17 - April 18, 2025

* The 4K screeners are only required in Fall and Spring.

Results are shared with families at conferences, unless the student is below the 25th percentile.  In that case, families will receive communication and a Personalized Reading Plan for the student within 10 days of completing the screener.

The State-wide Reading Readiness screening program is required for all students, grades 4K - 3.
