Do your part to ensure no student is left without a computer this fall 

We know you've been receiving a lot of communication from the district and your school(s). We can know it can be overwhelming and ask you to forgive the amount of emails you're receiving. 

The fact is we've never launched a school year virtually before, and we are dealing with a lot of complexities from when schools closed in March and we delivered 9,000 Chromebooks to students' homes. We are doing our best to relay important information before school starts. 

If it wasn't clear in earlier communications, we need every student represented in this schedule to turn in the Chromebook they used last year and pick up a new one. 

The devices students use are grade-level dependent. Students need to use the device intended for their grade level. If your student is scheduled to turn in their current laptop, that means another student needs it. And we need the time to clean and repair devices to give them to students on their exchange date. 

Make-up days and times 
If you are unable to make it on your scheduled exchange day, you can go to your assigned location one of the following times. Please do this only if absolutely necessary so that we can minimize the number of students without a Chromebook the first week of school. 

  • September 8: 8am - 3pm
  • September 9: 12pm - 7pm
  • September 10: 12pm - 7pm
  • September 11: 8am - 3pm

Didn't have a Chromebook last year but need one now?
If your student was not issued a Chromebook last school year but needs one now, you should come on the day and time listed for their school and grade level. 

New to the school district?
If your student is brand new to our district, an incoming 4K student or 5K student, you should come on the day and time listed for their school and grade level.

Well child visits and vaccinations are essential

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, well child visits were postponed, leaving children at risk for vaccine preventable disease. Local healthcare providers are now scheduling well child and immunization visits for all children and adolescents. It is important that all children receive recommended vaccinations and get caught up if they are behind as a result of the pandemic.
Many of you have asked if immunizations are still a requirement for this coming school year. Yes, the WI Department of Health Services continues to follow the WI State Statutes immunization requirement for schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Foundation and network of partners work to deliver 5,000 supply kits to students -- how you can help

Every student deserves a full and equitable education. The past few months have shown the essential role public schools play in our community while shining a light on existing disparities.
As we prepare to start the 2020-2021 school year, an urgent need for individual sets of school supplies has emerged. Students need their own sets of supplies at home in order to properly engage in virtual learning. The need will continue once a return to in-person learning in our school buildings becomes possible. In order to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols, the sharing of classroom supplies will no longer be an option, necessitating a supply kit for each student.  
In response to this urgent need, the Foundation for Madison's Public Schools has partnered with the community to purchase, package, and distribute up to 5,000 individual supply kits.
With your support, they will help deliver everything from pencils, notebooks, and headphones to those scholars most in need. The average cost of a supply kit is $50 and every donation contributes to the collective buying power of the Foundation and partners. Visit their school supply page for regular updates.
