On Tuesday, October 20, award winning children's book author and illustrator Yuyi Morales visited Lindbergh Elementary to speak to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Morales is the winner of several Pura Belpre awards for writing as well as a Caldecott award for her illustrations in picture books.

Morales spoke in both English and Spanish about how we were all writers, artists and dreamers. She brought with her a "bag of surprises" to talk about her childhood in Mexico, her family and her writing and artistic influences. She then read, Nino Wrestles the World. Finally, she sat with third, fourth and fifth grade students and answered questions, received hugs and signed autographs.

Morales' books include Nino Wrestles the World, Just a Minute a Trickster and Counting Tale, Just in Case a Trickster and Counting Tale, and Frida.

Her illustrations include Los Gatos Black on HalloweenSand Sisters, and My Abuelita.

Students in kindergarten through third grade received a copy of Nino Wrestles the World. Lindbergh was very lucky to have Yuyi Morales speak with the students and staff.
