On Thursday, March 2, families from Thoreau Elementary School and the Madinah Academy of Madison met together to celebrate being neighbors and to learn about current issues affecting immigrants and refugees. After dining together, families heard presentations from representatives of the Community Immigration Law Center, Jewish Social Services, the MMSD Legal Department, the Dane County Board, and the Rainbow Project. The night provided an opportunity to clarify useful information and learn about what resources are available in the community to support children and families.

The event was organized by the Thoreau community, Westside Muslim Community, MMSD Family and Community Engagement Department, Community Immigration Law Center, Jewish Social Services, Lutheran Social Services, and Group Health Cooperative.
