Programming

At the high school level, students have additional language offerings beyond those at the middle school level. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered in several languages.

Wisconsin State Statutes

Wisconsin State Statutes require that schools provide access to an extended sequence of world language learning in grades 7-12.

University Requirements

Electives, which can include World Language courses, are required for admission to all UW System universities.

Two years of a single foreign language is highly recommended  for admission to UW-Madison as this can fulfill the world language requirement as a UW student. Students who do not fulfill the university world language requirement with high school work will be required to do so as a student at UW–Madison. See the UW-Madison Language Policy page for more information.

World language requirements for graduation from University of Wisconsin System schools vary by majors. Students are encouraged to continue their sequence of language learning as long as possible.

Colleges and universities outside of the UW System may have varying admissions and graduation requirements.
