Kennedy Elementary School became MMSD’s eighth Full Service Community School on July 1, 2024. Kennedy has experienced tremendous growth over the past several years. As the school added classroom sections to accommodate growing enrollment, MMSD administration knew family and community engagement capacity needed to be expanded, too.
Principal Vanessa Kent hired long-time Kennedy support staff member, Tammy Moss, to be their first Community School Resource Coordinator, and Trina Talmadge, Kennedy parent, as their Family Liaison. Principal Kent was also able to hire three Village Builders to support the learning and social-emotional goals in the classroom. The Kennedy team is finishing up their Needs and Asset Assessment, and look forward to identifying strategic partnerships that can serve their growing and diverse community on Madison’s east side.
