ParentSquare

Parents or guardians whose contact information is in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal will receive email, text, and/or robocall messages from ParentSquare. If the ParentSquare app is downloaded, families can also choose to receive push notifications from the app.

• Email messages are known as Posts. In addition to being sent to the guardian's email inbox, all Posts sent by the school or district office from the current school year are available on your ParentSquare account.
  • When a Post is emailed, it also automatically sends the user a text alerting them to check their email.
• Direct Messages are individualized chat messages a school staff member can exchange with a parent or guardian. The family member will receive this message as an SMS text, and can also respond to the message with an SMS text.
• Texts can be sent by schools or the district for short, timely information. 
  • Examples: a last-minute event cancellation, snow day alert, reminders, etc.
• Robocalls are not used often, but allow schools or the district to send a recorded voice message to families.

ParentSquare is connected to Infinite Campus. To update your email or phone number, please update this information in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal or contact your school's administrative assistant. Note: updates made in Infinite Campus will appear the next day in ParentSquare.

ParentSquare communications are sent in the parent/guardian's home language preference in Infinite Campus. To change the language you receive messages in, please update your selection in Infinite Campus' Parent Portal or contact your school's administrative assistant.

Any messages sent in a language other than English will also receive a copy of the message in English.

If you do not want to receive a text alerting you that a Post was sent or that you received a Direct Message, you can turn off your text notifications in your account settings. To do that, follow these steps. Note, make sure you keep "School Alerts" checked "On". 

The email, text, and app notification settings above only relate to Post and Direct Message notifications, so you will still receive Smart Alert text messages or robocalls from MMSD regarding closures, emergency notices, etc. if you turn off the text feature.

All parents and guardians automatically have a ParentSquare account if their email and/or phone is in Infinite Campus and will receive notifications. If they sign into ParentSquare, then they become a registered user. Once you make an account on ParentSquare, families have access to dozens of step-by-step help articles.

Unregistered users will receive notifications of all communications (posts, alerts, direct messages, secure documents, auto notices, attendance notifications) as long as they have a valid email address  (or if no email, a valid phone number) and have their notification preferences set accordingly (i.e. have not marked ParentSquare communications as spam).

When you receive a ParentSquare Post in your email inbox, open the full Post and click "comment." By automatic default, this reply is viewable only to you and the sender.

On the app, tap the speech bubble icon and press "add comment."

Emails, texts and app notifications from ParentSquare are automatically set to "Digest" which means you will receive one email and/or one text and/or one app notification providing access to all ParentSquare information at the end of the day. To receive notifications the moment a communication is sent, you can change your notification settings.

Even if your notification is set to Digest, the sender can still send an immediate communication, overriding the Digest setting.

Note: If you receive notifications by email, you'll receive a daily digest email from your district and schools separately if there are posts that day.
