We hope everyone enjoyed their first day and feels welcomed and energized to learn. Stay tuned for our next family newsletter to see the video we captured on the first day of school.

Madison high school students begin Early College STEM Academy

Imagine having the opportunity to gain college credit while still in high school—at no cost to your family. Twenty-six Madison high school juniors and seniors are doing just that through the Early College STEM Academy. The STEM Academy is a partnership between Madison schools and Madison College. Students attend classes focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, mostly at Madison College. They also attend classes at their high school.

Last month, students enrolled in the STEM Academy spent several days at Madison College getting acquainted with their schedules, their teachers, peers and college life overall. Armon, a junior at East High School says he’s a little nervous but excited for the program. “It’s an amazing opportunity for me especially since I’m a first generation college student. Just being able to go to those first two years of college completely paid for and being able to pursue what I really want to do in life, which is a biomedical engineering.”

Students who complete all required credits for the STEM Academy will earn an Associate’s degree from Madison College.

Look for ‘Schools Make Madison’ billboards around town!

If you haven’t seen them yet, you will soon! Several of our students are featured on 'Schools Make Madison' billboards across the area. Thank you to the Foundation for Madison’s Public Schools and Adams Collaborate for the hard work put into this billboard series.

‘Schools Make Madison’ billboards celebrate the talent and potential of 27,000 scholars and their families, the dedicated work of thousands of Madison teachers and staff and the role of the Foundation as our key philanthropic partner. We couldn't do what we do without the Foundation, our students, staff and families, and the community.

Join MMSD Planetarium for its September shows

In September evening skies, we will enjoy a line up of four of the five visible planets. Join us to kick off a new year of public shows and learn how to find these planets in the sky. We'll also take you on a virtual trip to each planet to see them up close and share some of the latest discoveries. If weather permits, join us after the program to see the moon and these planets in a telescope.

Tickets are $2.50 and available on the website, by mail, or at the door. Buying tickets in advance is recommended. Seating is on a first come, first-served basis. We accept walk-ins on stand-by for sold out shows.
