Superintendent Cheatham welcomes students back to school
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! We hope our students enjoyed their first day of school and feel welcome and energized to learn. As we focus on strengthening relationships with our students, several of our staff share their hopes and dreams for students. We look forward to a great school year.
We stand by all our students, staff and families
Madison students all smiles on the first day of school
Students across the district started the new school year with smiles. They also shared their strengths and what they'll do this school year. We can’t wait to see all the wonderful things our #FutureMMSDGrads accomplish this year.
Updated healthy classroom snack list now available
Check out the newly updated MMSD Healthy Classroom Snack List. The list was developed to help parents and school staff select healthy and nut-free snack options when bringing in snacks for the entire class for celebrations such as birthdays, holidays, and parties.
The list contains nutrition guidelines for healthy snacks, snack preparation recommendations, food allergy guidelines, suggestions for healthy classroom snack options and ideas for non-food celebrations and rewards. You can view the healthy classroom snack list at www.mmsd.org/wellness along with other wellness documents and resources.
Did you know you can now report your child absent online?
We have a new attendance webpage for families, making it easier for you to report your child absent from school: mmsd.org/attendance. This link can be found on all school websites in the “For Families” and “Contact Us” menus. You are welcome to continue using your school’s Safe Arrival / Attendance Line phone number if you prefer. The online form is simply an additional option for attendance reporting.
The new page also includes an electronic version of the Pre-Approved Absence Form that is required to excuse students when they have to miss school for vacations, special events, etc. Again, you will still be able to obtain a paper copy from your school's office.
