Filling a Critical Need
MMSD is now hiring substitute teachers for the 2022-2023 school year. Whether you’re a recent college graduate looking to get on a career path or a retired educator, substitute teaching offers a stable and meaningful job opportunity. Full-time substitute teachers in MMSD (three or more days per week) receive long-term school placements, a steady paycheck, full healthcare benefits, paid holidays, and more.
Substituting provides a clear path into teaching, along with professional development support along the way. Choose a career that offers the full package, while making a difference for Madison students.
Yes! I am interested in further information and attending future events about teaching with MMSD.
Looking for an opportunity at a specific school?
MMSD does not post specific school/department vacancies for many of our positions. Instead, we have general "pool" postings. This allows us to collect applications and evaluate who are the best candidates for our schools/departments based on their strengths, interests, and availability. When you are notified you are moving on in the general pool, you are referred for school-specific vacancies as they become available. Our principals decide which referred candidates are best qualified for their vacancies. If you decline an opportunity to interview for a specific position, you remain in the pool and are eligible for other opportunities, unless you contact HR and ask to be removed from the applicant pool completely.
