Addendum C: SECTION 2 ASSIGNMENTS, VACANCIES AND TRANSFERS

2.3 Trial Period
  1. Definitions
    1. Promotion - Shall mean the permanent advancement of an employee from a position in a pay range to a position in a higher pay range.

    2. Job Transfer - Shall mean the permanent transfer of an employee from one geographic location (building) to another, and/or from one work shift to another, without change of job title or pay range.

    3. Lateral Transfer - Shall mean the permanent transfer of an employee from one job title to another job title in the same pay range.

    4. Demotion - Shall mean the permanent movement of an employee from a position in a pay range to another position in a lower pay range.

    5. Trial Period - Shall mean the three (3) month period following the date of promotion or transfer wherein such employee shall be on a three (3) month trial period during which time the employee may be returned to a job in the same pay level from which he/she came without prejudice at the option of the employer or the employee.

  2. Application

    Employees filling a position by virtue of promotion, lateral transfer, or demotion, when such demotion is at the request of the employee, shall serve a trial period of three (3) months.
