Retirement Planning

MMSD provides multiple ways to cover your expenses in retirement. All eligible MMSD employees participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), a pension plan administered by the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF).  In addition, employees may voluntarily contribute to a 403(b) retirement savings plan by having contributions deducted from their paychecks. Employees with a personal illness balance when they retire can convert this balance into non-cash credits that can be used to pay for health, dental, and in some cases, life and long-term care insurance premiums. Finally, employees in the teacher unit may be eligible for the Teacher Emeritus Retirement Program which provides additional income for the first three years of retirement.
