Jefferson sixth grade students recently got a shout-out from First Lady Michelle Obama in her speech on International Women's Day. Students researched inspiring people and watched a documentary about girls' educational opportunities around the world. Students created pieces of art to educate and inspire our school community, conducted a Penny Wars fundraiser, and wrote letters to family and friends to let them know about our project. Through this effort we were able to raise 594 dollars to donate to the Let Girls Learn initiative. Michelle Obama publicly recognized this outstanding effort in her speech (Jefferson mention is at 15:20).
