Families of 10th Grade Students:

We invite you to learn more about the Youth Apprenticeship Program, an option available to students during their junior and senior year. The Youth Apprenticeship Program combines technical classroom instruction with work-based learning. While participating in the program, students take high school academic courses to meet graduation and/or postsecondary education requirements and work in a job related to their Youth Apprenticeship program area. Students are supervised in their work experience by an employer and school representative. Each of the following Youth Apprenticeship program areas require a one- or two-year commitment to courses and work experience outside the regular school hours:

  • Construction
  • Finance
  • Health Science
  • Hospitality & Tourism
  • Information Technology
  • Marketing
  • Manufacturing
  • Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics
  • Transportation, Distribution & Logistics

The enclosed flyer announces the information sessions that will be held in December to provide an overview of the program areas listed above; discuss the application and selection process, program guidelines, college credit opportunities; and answer questions pertaining to the program. For more information, please attend one of the sessions with your student. To attend a session, RSVP by completing the online form.

If a student has shown interest in one of the career fields above by taking preliminary classes in high school, working at a related business, or has keen interest in an area, Youth Apprenticeship may be of interest. Several Youth Apprenticeship classes are held in the evening at a college campus, and students typically work late in the school day, after school, weekends and summer. Students must have their own transportation to class and work sites. Students are also responsible for obtaining their own employment in fulfillment of program requirements. Please visit https://cte.madison.k12.wi.us/youth-apprenticeship for more information. We look forward to seeing you and your student at one of the information sessions in December!
