meamnc_crew-cropped_4.jpgMSCR Meadowood Neighborhood Center and the Meadowridge Library worked together to take a group of youth to see author Jason Reynolds speak at the UW Union South during the Wisconsin Book Festival.

The group had reserved front row seats and Reynolds spent most of his lecture speaking directly to the kids -- he used their words and spoke to their experiences. The youth were engrossed in his talk which focused on humility, connection and gratitude. He explained how he uses these skills in his writing, and how everyone needs them, particularly when working on connecting with youth. The group also was excited to received signed copies of his book, Miles Moreales, and Reynolds thanked them for coming.

“All in all, it was an incredible evening and I am blown away by the experience we facilitated for our amazing youth. Thank you, to all of you, for helping make this happen. It takes a village and we have a pretty awesome one” described Glenna Matteson, Teen Services Librarian.
