Crescent Moon Tilt: Spring Crescent Setting (Madison, WI)

march crescent moon
September crescent moon

The following animation shows a simulation of the crescent moon setting as seen from Madison, Wisconsin (USA). Time has been sped up 2000 times. Note that these changes (stars and moon setting) are caused by the fact that the Earth is spinning. The animation starts at sunset. Notice how long this 3-day-old crescent is up in the sky after sunset. Compare this to the fall crescent.
