Teachers & Group Leaders
The planetarium is a field trip destination for explorers of all ages. We specialize in providing educational experiences that support the Wisconsin Science Standards and Next Generation Science Standards for PreK-12 school groups. We also provide programming for adult groups, scout groups, and general audiences. In addition to providing planetarium programs, we offer a vast array of resources that public, private, and home school teachers find helpful.
Tips for Planetarium Utilization
- Make your reservation early. For your convenience, we have posted our schedule on the web. Go to our Calendar page to access the schedule. Then fill out our on-line reservation request form.
- Choose your program carefully: read the descriptions, browse the teacher's guides. Communicate your needs/goals to the planetarium instructor: help us help you make your visit in integral part of your curriculum.
- Remember to make your transportation arrangements. Note that the planetarium is now part of Nature Net, and you may qualify for up to $80 reimbursement for your bus costs through the Nature Express program.
- LUNCH: If you need a place to eat lunch in conjunction with your visit to the planetarium, you may consider renting a room at the Lussier Community Education Center [Phone:(608) 833-4979]. It's located nearby, just two buildings north of Memorial HS, on the same campus as the planetarium (Memorial High School and Jefferson Middle School campus). Some groups also choose to utilize the Food Court at West Towne Mall.
- Video Chat: we can now provide astronomy, and astronomy education support virtually. See our Contact page for details.
