Research, Assessment & Improvement (RAI)

Helping others know more to improve.

RAI strives to proactively engage with district and school leadership to use local evidence and innovate for equitable, continuous improvement. We help others know more in order to improve through relevant, timely evidence; strong data literacy and routines; collaborative research, inquiry and design; and support for leaders to drive evidence to action.

2025-26 Goals

  • Research: Provide strong evidence for decision-making and other uses by district leaders
  • Assessment: Proactively manage and support our assessment strategy
  • Improvement: Lead district efforts to create and enact and aligned, system-wide approach to drive continuous improvement

Requests for Work

External Research in MMSD

Any potential research project in MMSD must undergo the review process by the External Research Committee (ERC). To determine if you should submit an ERC request and learn more about this process, please visit the ERC webpage.

Requests from Central Office

Data, survey and analysis requests from Central Office must be submitted in a centralized form to be completed by Cabinet members only. Please work with your Cabinet member to submit a request on behalf of the requesting individual, team or department.
