Things are changing! In order to align our work and better support schools, staff, students and families, we are undergoing organizational changes. The Research & Innovation team is joining with our MMSD Assessment team to form the Research, Assessment & Improvement Department (RAI)! As the transition work will take some time, you will see evidence of the old and new structures on the website. Please know that this is a work in progress and we will work to update it as quickly as we can!
Helping others know more to improve.
RAI strives to proactively engage with district and school leadership to use local evidence and innovate for equitable, continuous improvement. We help others know more in order to improve through relevant, timely evidence; strong data literacy and routines; collaborative research, inquiry and design; and support for leaders to drive evidence to action.
- Designing and leading improvement-focused data routines for the superintendent, cabinet, senior leadership team, schools, central office leadership team and the Board of Education
- Supporting school improvement planning, including implementation of Plan4Learning and system and school-level design and implementation
- Administering and improving on our Comprehensive Assessment System
External Research in MMSD
Any potential research project in MMSD must undergo the review process by the External Research Committee (ERC). To determine if you should submit an ERC request and learn more about this process, please visit the ERC webpage.
Requests from Central Office
Data, survey and analysis requests from Central Office must be submitted in a centralized form to be completed by Cabinet members only. Please work with your Cabinet member to submit a request on behalf of the requesting individual, team or department.
If you have a general query or you are not an MMSD employee and you have a data request, please visit the Public Records Requests page.
