Covid Testing and Clinics

Free COVID-19 Testing for Students and Staff

Testing helps reduce community spread and keeps schools operating safely. Testing individuals who are symptomatic or close contacts helps enable rapid detection of cases in the school community and reduce or prevent school outbreaks.

Through a collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, we are partnering with a testing vendor called COVID Clinic to provide free testing to symptomatic students and staff. If a student or staff member tests positive, COVID Clinic will also provide free testing to any close contacts, including household members.

Students (only with written consent of parent/guardian) and staff will be able to get tested at their school site for convenience, but are welcome to be tested at another school. Students will visit COVID Clinic only when accompanied by a family member or staff member.

COVID Clinic will offer two test types:

  • Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test
  • PCR COVID-19 Test

Rapid Antigen Testing

Recommended for anyone who is symptomatic, it provides results in 15 minutes. If a symptomatic individual's rapid antigen test is negative, DHS requires a confirmatory PCR test before returning to work or school. This test can also be used for anyone who is a close contact to be a positive case to exit quarantine with a negative. A positive rapid antigen test result in an asymptomatic staff or student requires a confirmatory PCR.

PCR Confirmatory Testing

Available through COVID Clinic as well as some schools sites, please check with your school health office. Test results are usually available in 24-48 hours depending on testing volume. PCR tests are used to confirm a symptomatic individual's negative rapid antigen result and can also be used for anyone who is a close contact to exit quarantine provided the result is negative.
