First, the student needs to be enrolled into the district. Once they are enrolled as a student in MMSD, they are able to enroll in this program via the online Summer Semester Enrollment Application from March 14 to April 20.
Can the bus take students to a daycare before and/or after the program?
What if a parent wants to apply for early entrance to kindergarten?

Course Descriptions
In Person Classes - Literacy
Grades K-5 Summer (Bi)Literacy
Students will engage in high-quality speaking, listening, reading, and writing tasks aligned to the science of reading intended to accelerate growth in key literacy skills.
Whole Group Instruction - students participate in foundational skills, speaking, reading, and writing lessons using a grade level text with the class. Students will practice skills in asking and answering questions about the text, and engage in conversations to build listening and speaking skills.
Small Group Instruction - teachers provided instruction and practice for speaking and writing skills.
Independent Reading Tasks - students are provided independent activities meant to target and strengthen their literacy skills.

Teacher Lead - Students will engage in lessons from the Bridges Intervention materials that are aligned with the prerequisite skills students will need to be successful in the upcoming school year.
Small Group - Students will complete practice pages that accompany the Bridges Intervention lesson in small groups led by the teacher.
Independent Work - Students will work at their instructional level in the DreamBox online adaptive program for 30 minutes each day.

ESY students are provided transportation. Parents should speak with Bob Byington in the Transportation department.

Breakfast is from 7:45am - 8:15am, Lunch 11:45 am - 12:15pm. Summer School and MSCR offer snacks for students enrolled in their programming. Visit the Food Services website for more details.

What is the program?
There are two programs based on age:

YRC (Youth Recreation Center) 5th-8th
-
SREC (Summer Recreation and Enrichment Centers) 4K-4th
The program provides students with positive student engagement, recreation, enrichment, outdoor play and Summer Food program meals in an inclusive, enriching, and safe environment. Students that attend have lunch at the start of the program, and an afternoon snack. There are a variety of recreation and enrichment activities (outdoor and large group games, science, art, music and more).
