SUPPORT SERVICES
The Department of Student & Staff Support works collaboratively with departments across the central office to support the development of healthy, safe, and thriving school communities that create a true sense of belonging for all stakeholders. This includes support in the following areas:
CULTURE & CLIMATE
We believe that students, staff and families of all races, ethnicities, faiths, home languages, immigration statuses, disabilities, sexual orientations and gender identities are valuable members of our community. By creating positive supportive relationships, we will cultivate a sense of belonging for all. Four foundation practices feed this work; Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT), Restorative Justice (RJ), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
SCHOOL-BASED SUPPORT TEAMS
Our school-based support teams work collaboratively, in partnership with teachers, administrators, families, and community organizations, to design and deliver customized student supports. The primary purpose of this team is to create environments that maximize opportunities for learning and ensure that all students develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to achieve personal success in college, career, and community.
MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Mental health is essential for growth and well-being.
The MMSD School-Based Mental Health and Well-Being team is here to support students, families, and school staff at every stage of their educational journey.
